We recommend baseline screening for anyone sexually active, with retesting after new partners, after unprotected sex, before starting a new relationship, or any time you have a concern.
Our panel covers the standard infections. HIV (antibody plus RNA when indicated). Chlamydia and gonorrhea (urine or swab). Syphilis, hepatitis B and C (blood).
Herpes simplex (blood antibody or lesion swab if symptoms are present). HPV (Pap smear-based screening in women, lesion biopsy if warranted). We can also test for trichomoniasis and Mycoplasma genitalium when indicated.
Testing is matched to your specific concerns and exposures - we will not run unnecessary panels, and we will explain what each test tells you.
Some tests are performed on-site: HIV, Trichomonas (Trichomoniasis), and bacterial vaginosis (BV). Results for these are typically available before you leave or shortly after.
All other panels are drawn during your visit and sent to our reference lab. That covers chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis B and C, herpes simplex, HPV, and Mycoplasma. Results come back in less than 24 hours. We call you privately when your results are in, regardless of outcome.
If a result is positive, we sit down with you to explain what it means, what treatment looks like, and what to do about partners. Many STDs are fully treatable with a single course of antibiotics. HIV and herpes are managed with daily medication that allows normal life expectancy and dramatically reduced transmission risk.
We also offer pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) consultation for HIV prevention in high-risk individuals, and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) discussion if you have had a recent possible exposure (within 72 hours). PEP must start quickly, so call (708) 265-2702 right away if you think you need it - we will see you the same day.
Privacy is built into our process. The exam room is private. Your visit reason is not visible on any check-in screen or paperwork that other patients can see.
We do not call your insurance unless you authorize it - many patients choose self-pay specifically to keep STD testing off their insurance record. Self-pay pricing is flat-rate and reasonable, with cash, debit, and credit accepted. Bring photo ID and your insurance card only if you want to use coverage.
